Geoffrey Sandquist
Geoffrey Sandquist, B.A., D.F.L.S., a native of Toronto, Canada, graduated with a French and History degree from Huron College at the University of Western Ontario. With a desire to immerse himself in French, he moved to Quebec City and spent 2 years studying at Université Laval. Geoff then moved to France 1987 to work for Butterfield & Robinson and continued with them for 7 years filling a variety of positions from Bike Mechanic and Tour leader to Technical Director and finally to Director of European Operations. In late 1994, after the birth of their first child, Geoff and his family moved back to the Canadian Rockies where he ran a small bicycle tour business and worked as house master at an exclusive private school in Banff, Alberta. Geoff got back into the travel business in 1996 with Brewster Travel also based in Banff. As Senior Group Tour Coordinator he planned and organised custom group travel to the Canadian Rockies and Western Canada. After three years with Brewster, Europe again beckoned. Now a family of 5, with 3 small children, they returned to Europe in 1999. Geoff looked after Hamilton Fitzjames' French operations until the fall of 2004 and the birth of SandquistEurope. Geoff will head up SandquistEurope's marketing, trip design and will lead most of our "Journeys à la Carte".
Lesley Sandquist
Lesley Sandquist, B.A., B.Ed. was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. She developed an early interest in French and it was the focus of her studies throughout her school career, including one year at a private school in Lausanne, Switzerland. She continued in this direction at the University of Calgary and to Université Laval in Quebec City where she got her B.A.. Lesley was also hired by Butterfield & Robinson in 1987 and held a variety of positions during her tenure there from logistics, to trip leader to Student Trip Coordinator and Office Coordinator. As a result of her work on B&R's Student Programmes, Lesley decided to return to University where she ultimately received her teaching degree from University of Western Ontario's Althouse College in 1993. After the birth of their first child, and returning to Canada, Lesley put her B.Ed. to work as a supply teacher in Calgary and at a private school in Banff. After the birth of her son, Lesley committed to her role as a full-time Mom for the following several years while also being involved in various local charity groups. In 1999, shortly after the birth of their third child, the family returned to Europe. Lesley continues to focus on their family, which now numbers 6, with the addition of their fourth child. Lesley will be working with Geoff to help administrate and coordinate SandquistEurope's programmes.
