Today's itinerary

 |
Private transfer from either Dijon or Beaune.
|
|
 |
Our first excursion will be to the Domaine de la Vougeraie in Prémeaux-Prissey near Nuits-St-Georges. The super-talented winemaker Pascal Marchand will be our host as we taste a selection of the great wines he makes at the Domaine. Since 1999 Pascal has looked after the many different appellations that La Vougeraie produces. It is mind-boggling to ponder the complexity of making 29 different wines as he does at the Domaine. Pascal is dedicated to his craft and his passion comes through loud and clear in this private visit.

After the tasting we continue south to the private grounds of La Terre d’Or, our private residence. Located on the Montagne de Beaune, La Terre d’Or is a perfect venue for our exploration of Burgundy over the next 4 days.

Ma Cuisine
Pierre Escoffier and Fabienne Parra started a small bistrot in the late 1990s with an aim of having
a spot for wine lovers to eat well but more importantly to be able to drink well.
Having the finest restaurant cellar in Beaune, selling wines at reasonable prices (accompanied by excellent, unpretentious food) has turned out to be a winning formula. Initially, Pierre remembers with a laugh, it wasn’t the case as they waited for people to be converted. Then there was an article in the New York Times and the restaurant has been the hardest reservation in town to get ever since.

Dijon
This regional capital was the seat of the Dukes of Burgundy for centuries and is tremendously rich from an historic and cultural viewpoint. Filled with museums and historic monuments, Dijon is worth a visit when in Burgundy. Glazed rooftops, half-timbered houses, private mansions of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Saint Benign Cathedral, the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy all highlight a visit of this cosmopolitan city, as well as eight museums and a superb botanical gardens. Known around the world for its delicacies of Cassis, Pain d’Epice and Mustard, Dijon is a gourmet destination as well as an art history and wine destination.

La Terre d’Or
Jean-Louis and Christine Martin have created this delightful and welcoming property. Located in the 1er cru vines just above the town of Beaune, La Terre d’Or offers beautiful guest bedrooms, comfortable common spaces, gorgeous gardens and an inviting swimming pool. Its location on the Montagne de Beaune is terrific for it has an amazing view of the vine-covered valley below, is private and quiet, yet only 2 minutes from the medieval centre of town. A complete restoration of the property was completed in 2000 and expanded in 2002, bringing modern amenities and 4 star comfort. On the entry level of the main house there is a living room with TV, DVD, VCR, stereo, stone fireplace, grand piano, a large dining room and a modern kitchen. There are nine beautifully appointed bedrooms in three separate houses on the grounds.
