Il Frantoio
Il Frantoio was once the property of the noble Tanzarella family, and is the nucleus of a property of 170 acres that produces extra virgin olive oil of 3 different types: "Collina di Brindisi - Hill of Brindisi" “Olivarola Salentina” and “Leccina”. The oldest part of the building dates to the 17th C. Some parts of the farmland are exclusively dedicated to the organic cultivation of olive trees typical of the countryside around the nearest town, Ostuni. A tree-lined drive takes you to the inner courtyard. Looking onto the courtyard there is a romantic Italian style garden with a peacock cage, a sunny citrus fruit garden with lemon, orange, mandarin and lime trees. 8 guest rooms are located in a part of the Masseria constructed in the 19th C and are furnished with style and taste. The gardens are well kept and life here is dedicated to complete relaxation. The kitchen garden is at the back of the dining-room, filled with aromatic herbs, all strictly cultivated organically. Il Frantoio is also equipped with stables and a riding school, which has a panoramic view on the sea and the surrounding hills.

Taranto
On the Ionian coast stands Taranto, the powerful city of Magna Graecia, now a steel-making city and naval base. Important sites are: the Museo Nazionale with its complete collection of archaeological exhibits, including gold jewelry and ornaments worn by women in the Hellenic age, the cathedral with the Baroque Chapel of S. Cataldo and the 10th c. crypt; the Church of S. Domenico Maggiore, the fine gardens of Villa Peripato overlooking the sea, and the Aragonese Castle, built in 1480.
