Volpaia
On the border between the territories of Siena and Florence, Volpaia came under the Florentine jurisdiction in the 12thC. In the decades that followed, the tiny village was constantly caught up in the battles between the two city states. Volpaia has been a wine producing town since the 11thC but now truly ranks as one of Italy’s leading wine producers. The transition has happened over the last 40 years under the direction of owner Giovannella Stianti-Mascheroni. She has lovingly restored this picturesque medieval hamlet while creating a contemporary factory within its walls. Her wines are presently exported all over the world, the US being a leading market.
